A Celtic Concert with SilverWood
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day early with “A Celtic Concert with SilverWood,” Friday, March 12, 2010 at 7:00 pm in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library.
The founders of SilverWood, Diane Wilson, flutist and guitarist Gary Tuttle, have invited special guest musicians for the concert. They include Carol McCollum, fiddler; Michael Ballard on bodhran (drum); and Michael Eskin who plays Uilleann pipes (Irish bagpipes), the mandolin, and large and small whistles.
Playing a variety of Irish ballads along with lively jigs, reels, and other dance tunes, SilverWood will perform beloved and familiar melodies such as “Danny Boy” and “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling” and some not-so-well-known, including “Brenda Stubbert’s Reel,” “Sonny Brogan’s Jig,” and an ethereal air called “Crested Hen.”
Tickets are required for this free event and will be available at the Adult Reference Desk beginning March 1st at 10:00 am. Tickets must be picked up at the Library. No telephone or e-mail ticket requests will be accepted.
Concert goers will enter the Library Winn Room through the door near the coffee cart in front of the Library. Ticket holders will be admitted from 6:15 pm - 6:45 pm. After 6:45 pm, non-ticket holders will be seated, if seats are available. There is no guarantee of a seat even with a ticket after 6:45 pm.
This free concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. For further information please call the Library at 522-7390.
