Event Description

A Mariachi afternoon will be hosted by the Coronado Public Library on August 27th, part of the Library's Summer Festival. Author, speaker, and Mariachi expert Gil Sperry will give a multi-media presentation on the traditions and nature of Mariachi music, starting at 3:00pm in the Library Winn Room. Gil Sperry is the author of "Mariachi for Gringos" and lectures regularly on the subject.


A Mariachi concert will follow at 4:30pm, performed by the Mariachi Diamante de San Diego. This mariachi group is led by maestro and educator David Rodriguez. The Mariachi Diamante performs at events and festivals throughout the region and the Southwest.


The Coronado Library Summer Festival is sponsored by the Hotel del Coronado and the Friends of the Coronado Library, The event is free.
