What do you do?
When you meet someone new, this question is often one of the first to be asked. Consequently, the answer involves tasks you perform on a daily basis or your professional occupation, but there is so much more to offer when it comes to "what we do".
I met a stranger who instead asked, "What's your next adventure?" I didn't know what to say at the time, but now it comes flooding into my mind via a friendly suggestion. "I am going to be an inspiration to creativity. I am going to spend a wonderful evening rubbing shoulders with some of the most creative minds in San Diego." Because what else is there? Art is all about the moment and capturing the elements of our world, whether it be people, culture, nature, sport, or anything else that brings light to our lives. Artists are a breed, a collection of people who breathe in the world and reproduce their perception of it in a palpable object, which evokes a tactical response from the body. That reaction embodies the most raw and innate qualities that we as humans possess, and that is precisely what our answer should be about.
Translate "What do you do?" to "What drives you? What's your passion? What is your purpose?" All of these questions are what fuels artists and provides them with the fire to create and share.
The Undiscovered Gallery and the artists of "Either to Please or to Educate" welcome you to experience your next great adventure. DJ Tava Luv goes on at 6:15pm, so take advantage of the opportunity, the view of the beach, the refreshments on the patio, and most certainly the artwork that unites us on this evening!
