Popular, locally owned cafe with great breakfast, good sandwiches, delicious muffins, homemade breads and desserts. Order at counter with indoor and outdoor seating. Try the scrambled egg and cheese croissant...yum!

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!! Everytime I go I say Im never coming back to this place....yet I continue to go back. The food is good but its gone downhill since new ownership. Used to have the best freshly baked muffins!! They've got great sandwiches and wonderful breakfast food but just the bakery isn't what it used to be!!
Best muffins on the island!
It's been several months since I have eaten here, but the muffins used to be HUGE and delicious and lots of varieties. The egg dishes are also a good choice. The hardest part is (especially on a weekend) finding a place to sit and eat. I think the service is a little slow, but the times I have been there (weekend mornings), it's been pretty busy and things seemed to be moving. The food was worth the wait.
Many mornings I sit outside Villa Nueva enjoying my cup of Starbucks coffee and the beautiful Coronado Mornings. While sitting on the park bench I noticing the front door to this eatery is closed and the lights are off. On more than one occasion I’ve been asked by the early morning tourist “when does Villa Nueva open?” I’ll tell these hungry visitors “they don’t open until late.” Then point them in the direction of eateries that serve early birds. This has given me quite the past time. I now count the number of disappointed patrons and calculate the amount of profit lost by this locally owned establishment.
The few mornings I’ve sat on my bench later in the morning due to a late night of prowling I’ve been horrified to watch the service from the employees. The owners don’t seem to have forgotten how important their customers are. Even if your food is great if your service is substandard you’re customer will never return. I’ve even had the unwilling privilege of witnessing the round bellied servers belly button peeking out from over her apron. An unattractive if not unappetizing sight for visitors to Coronado to have to digest on an empty stomach early in the morning.
It truly is a shame that we live in one of the most beautiful cities in the united stated. We attract visitors from all over the world. Yet we subject them to such gastric distress as to seat them at “Villa No-eat-a.” I have yet to try the food there, but if this is what I see in the front of the house what kitchen nightmares await our visitors from the kitchen? Gordon Ramsey please save Coronado!!!
