"Cops and Sandman" (Add Your Caption)

Joe Ditler captured this photo of the 'Sandman' having a 'conversation' with the Coronado Police. More info on the Sandman can be found here: http://www.ecoronado.com/profiles/blogs/local-spotlight-the-coronado

I don't understand why CPD continue to pursue The Sandman. He adds so much joy and character to the island. Just leave him be! Most people love him work and it's harmless!

CPD must be VERY CAREFUL in such a dangerous situation. Sandman has a dust pan and he's not afraid to use it! I'm so happy my tax dollars got towards keeping such heinous criminals off the grass! They sent out (2) officers? Really? Good grief. Leave the poor guy alone already! Let him do his thing, which is entertaining locals and tourists alike with his awesome works of art. Sandman Rocks.

Sunday -  My grandchildren just came in and said The Sandman has been arrested.  They said his uniform is hanging on the fence near the Del and there is a note explaining what happen.  Would love an update.

Times are a'changing!  Coronado is no longer the precious homespun Americana town of the past.  I get it . . . but I sure don't like it.  Today the sandman gets yet another citation and arrest, this week I saw multiple kids getting tickets for skateboarding on Orange, private security sit outside the pools at the Shores to police potential pool goers without passes (most of whom have left them in the condo), my son's new car gets booted in The Shores because it didn't have its decal yet and today coming out of Yogurt Escape, there was a Coronado policeman posted there with his ticket book in hand.  I assume he was waiting for biker/skateboard infractors.  I am proud of our our Community, the Coronado police and firemen and appreciative for all they do.  But I really think we need to lighten up a bit.  I love the art Mr. Sandman gives us.  It truly is local color.  As far as I know, he must be the target of an isolated few.  I assume the Del enjoys him as they haven't ejected him from their boardwalk area.  I know there are laws about "wheels on Main Street" and we must follow rules but it seems the Law is going overboard enforcing young people on wheels and a local favorite artist.  You know, he is not using colored chalks to make his art, he is simply rearranging sand on hard surfaces!  How bad is that!  I vote we give him a break and let him entertain island locals and guests.  This is suppose to be a family friendly island.  Don't the complainers have anything better to do with their time.  I suggest the Law spend more time with drug enforcement and speeding on the Strand.  That's far more valuable use of their time.

Tipical Coronado cops nothing better to do than mess with the sandman. Guess they cany get enough donoughts and coffee.
