Came home from work yesterday (09/25/14) around 5:30pm, and our neighborhood troop of crows were particularly riled about something in the tree in our front yard. After closer inspection I found the source of their anxiety, a great horned owl! I have never seen an Owl in Coronado before, it sat calm and resolute and even peered down to stare back at my daughter and I, ignoring the 12 or so crows who were doing their very best to intimidate and antagonize this apex predator. It was completely unfazed, and eventually the crows took off, defeated as the sun began to set.
