Coronado Sand Dunes Spell "Coronado"

Did you know that the sand dunes by the Hotel del Coronado spell out C-O-R-O-N-A-D-O. Cool!

Albums: Hotel del Coronado, Tour of Coronado, Coronado Real Estate
Location: Coronado, CA

Took me seriously 5 years of living there to finally figure that out

The sand dunes used to spell "CORONADO BEACH"! The new lifeguard support building occupies the former letters "B" and some of the "E", but since the "BEACH" part has been displaced it must be no longer possible to maintain it for lack of space between the new lifeguard support building and the old support structure!

The "NEW" picture has some interesting details of note! The ice rink on the Windsor lawn and an EMPTY parking lot on the north side of the hotel.

I did highlight the "BEACH" letters as they were no longer maintained for some time before the picture.

Heinz, great addition to the post. In your OLD photo you can see the tennis courts at the Hotel del Coronado. I miss those courts as I used to play there and enjoy the view of the beach at the same time as returning serve!

Does anyone know who is responsible for the CORONADO BEACH writing? Has it been there a long time?

Judy, watch this video to find out who created this amazing 'dune art':

Today is the perfect day for Armondo Morena, the man responsible for the sand dunes that spell out CORONADO, to see his creation for the very 1st time from the air. Coronado Realtors Britt and Molly Cooper, a father/daughter team with Willis Allen Real Estate are up right now flying Armondo over the Coronado beach that just today was announced the #2 best beach in America. Please view the video about Armondo's sand dune and iceplant creation so that you understand how special seeing this from the air is to him. I will post pictures once they are out of the sky!
