i did a little experimenting with some long exposures last night as the last rays of sun were fading. i set up my d3s with two filters..one was a very dark 10 stop filter and the other was a two stop polarizing filter. what would normally be a 1/30 sec exposure now became a 4 minute exposure. the lengthy exposure allows the water to become silky and the clouds become blurred. another benefit: harbor boats and kayaks that pass through the frame "disappear" because they do not remain long enough to be captured. i will post a 9 minute exposure later. i welcome any comments

Mike should be very pleased that he gets a thumb's up from you for his work. I am sure you guys have seen Peter Lik's work. I like his stuff. I have been over to Vegas numerous times and walked through his galleries there. Not quite ready to pay $4K for one of his shots though. Thanks for sharing your shots and your insight guys!
