Smoke on the Water: South Bay Power Plant Implosion Makes History

Posted on February 2, 2013 at 9:00am 0 Comments

This morning at 7:05 am, the South Bay power plant was imploded in less than 2 minutes.

A fossil fuel, waterfront eyesore, opened in 1960, has officially become history.  The San Diego bay front is evolving into something that is world class.

Next we need ferry service to unite our South Bay communities.  An environmentally friendly, cost effective ferry service would render unnecessary the costly and disruptive I-5 South "widening project," which is currently…

Ok, you and Bruce are correct regarding the view from the corner of Adella & Orange looking toward Pt Loma and through the new con-tels. I'll still take the bike/running path along the beach as a good trade!

Hello Barbara,
Please take a look at the growing menace of multiple abandoned construction sites in Coronado. These sites are breeding pests, have abandoned port a potties, and rusting steel, abandoned trailers and trucks, broken down fencing, plastic covers flapping in the breeze, knee high weeds, and various other code violations, Our city officials are trying to get these sites to meet code, with no results.
It is highly unlikely that the builders can obtain financing to start construction on any of these sites, in the near future, when absolutely zero multi-million dollar homes have sold in Coronado in the past two years. The city needs to have a comprehensive policy to deal with these dangers before somebody gets hurt, and accrues financial liability to the city.
