Thanks for the informative update on the theater. Have a great vacation.

I first came across the bay on the ferry when I was 10 years old and thought Coronado was a fantasy place. My Step-Dad vacationed here in the winter with his family and loved staying in Tent City. In 1917 they moved here from Michigan living first i…

If a home was purchased on 3rd or 4th Streets post-bridge, the noise and traffic problems should have been taken into consideration. I don't believe tax dollars should be spent on private residences unless they owned the home pre-bridge and have no…

Have a good day at work! My final point is that, at the airport EVERYONE goes through the same security procedure. On the other hand, the AZ immigration law appears to target those who generate some sort of suspicion. And a lot of people are afraid…

"Charge a few illegals and Harass a lot of US Citizens". Isn't that kind of what we go through at any airport now? I want to be assured that I'm safe from a terrorist action when I board a plane so I don't mind the extra care in checking through eve…

The way I understand it, both AZ and CA check for citizenship when it goes so far as an arrest. I think the difference is that, in Arizona, the police will be able to ask for proof of citizenship at every traffic stop or noise complaint or demestic…

I read California's law as "any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws." Is this not the same as Arizona? I don't see that this person was arrested for any othe…

Candace, I read CA Penal Code 834b (http://law.justia.com/california/codes/pen/833-851.90.html) and a description of the new AZ immigration law (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arizona_immigration_law_(2010)). One big difference is that the CA law appl…

I remember when...

Hello Maureen,

I can totally relate to your comments about high school as WE weren't Navy either. Made no difference that my Dad moved here when he was 4 years old and lived in Tent City, then the Vanderbuilt Apartments, until my Grandmother's house was built in 1923 on Adella Avenue. I did have fun, however, as I just made my own. Had lots of friends that were guys as I was such a tomboy doing things like cliff jumping in La Jolla and way sooo much partying. Tried very hard to become

Village Theater

The Village Theater should be revitalized, not reconstructed. The idea of removing the tile and the ticket booth are certainly not what I want at a time when we are trying our best to preserve the charm of Coronado. I've seen the drawings of the prospective "new" theater and wonder who was doing the directing when those drawings were made up? I see no reason why the theater can't be expanded on the inside without losing the ticket booth. As far as the tile...take a look at the beautiful entra

I remember when...

Anyone interested in "I remember when..." about your life on the Island? Sometimes one person's thoughts spur memories for another. I think it would be great to "talk" about how blessed we've been to experience Coronado through the years.
I'll check back later to see if anyone is interested.

Threats against Village Elementary and Strand School

Channel 10 news 11:00PM, 7/31/09, reports threats against the 2 schools have been posted on Craig's List.
Take a deep breath before you go to "rants and raves" on Craig's List because these messages are very disturbing. Someone please comment on how this stuff is allowed to be posted.

Hi Candace, we will be selling the shirts at the event. For locals, they are $10 each. I'll add your husband to the list. If you can't make it, you can buy them starting 10/18 and pick them up from me.

Good to see you, too, Candy.

What a great event at The Lodge tonight. I took the tour guided by Sue G. The rooms are lovely. It's a great place for overflow holiday guests to stay.

You're correct: Soroptimists Rock. We had outstanding attendance tonight. I think our new members will be fabulous.

I look forward to seeing you soon.

Thanks for the kind words. It was great fun, wasn't it! I'll be sending out a Sweet Soroptimist Deal that everyone can pass on to their signficant other to prompt them into a romantic or relaxing evening at the Lodge!
