"My understanding of why the street was renamed to R.H. Dana was because Ada and Adella were being confused by visitors to Coronado."

The Mystery of R.H. Dana Place Solved?

Richard Henry Dana

Standing at the westerly end of R.H. Dana Place, I recently looked across the entry to San Diego Bay towards Ballast Point.  It was there, some 180 years ago, Richard Henry Dana, then a young man of only 20 years, first set foot at San Diego.f…

A small section of road in Coronado, passing from Orange Avenue to Ocean Boulevard, is named R. H. Dana Place.  Does anyone know why?

A good friend of mine worked for the CPD from the time he graduated high school and then college until he retired. The old days had a lot of good cops, not the storm trooper kind we have these days. I know times have changed in the world but for Coronado, less muscle and more finesse is the ticket. I had the cop that wrote me a ticket every time he saw my car. I had an antique 63 Chevy II Nova. Finding parts was nearly impossible. I needed a new bumper. I had a steel bar but he hated my car and wrote a ticket every time he saw me parked at my mom's house. I had to give the car up because of him. They tend to over do things with the PD and that's their biggest fault. Some cops are good and some plain mean. The mentality of the Chief reflects the officers attitudes in the streets. I'm glad you met one of the good ones. It was probably Jeff Hutchins.

Hey Uncle Dan!

Lana Yarbro, an eCoronado member, would like more info about the ArtMobile stops along the way. Maybe you could post the hand out that you created on her page?

I gave her the info but I know that would help her as well as others!

Thanks,

Ashley
