Coronado's Lady Islanders were in control the whole game and they played with an admirable amount of poise and composure. They were clearly the best team in the pool!

If a bored tunnel project was to be undertaken, there would need to be some condemnation of properties, but it would be minimal compared to the more traditional method of cut and cover tunneling. One of the options we have studied would be for the I…

How are you connected to Coronado?
I'm a Coronado local.
What are some things you love about Coronado? Favorite places on the island?
I think the heart and soul of Coronado is Orange Avenue. So much of what we value as citizens of Coronado is right there on Orange Ave. The Median, the history behind the Median, Spreckles Park, the Library, the Norfolk Island Pine, the Crown Jewel itself: The Hotel Del, the View from Orange Ave toward downtown SD, Our Business District, the Median Gardens, the Village Theater, and just the nostalgic feeling one can get driving down Orange Ave. I also love driving down the Strand or Ocean Blvd. Seeing Coronado from the top of the bridge when you are driving into town never gets old. The smell of the ocean early in the morning or late at night. Hearing a distant train whistle when I am trying to fall asleep. The view of Downtown SD from one of our bay front parks. Riding a bike around in the summer. Riding a bike around on the Fourth of July after enjoying the parade. Admiring the beauty of an aircraft carrier from Bayview Park or watching an F-18 cruise over North Beach. In the end, the comfort, safety, history, civility, serenity, and beauty of Coronado is what I will always love about Coronado.

Impact of Proposed State Budget

As many of you know, the state has been acting without a budget since July 1st, 2009 and has just recently developed a tentative budget agreement between the Governor and the party leaders of the State Assembly and the State Senate.

I want to update the citizens of Coronado on the potential impacts of this tentative agreement, if enacted by the legislature and signed by the Governor.

1. The proposed plan will "borrow" $1.65 million from the City of Coronado and will require the State to repay… Continue

Tolls on the Bridge

Coronado has been receiving a lot of media coverage about the possibility of reinstating tolls. There have been reports about possible "$10 Tolls" and many people have contacted me with their concerns about any tolls and/or a tunnel project.

We had a City Council meeting today where we accepted a report that explained how much money new tolls could raise for a new traffic solution like a tunnel. The report stated that $3-$5 worth of tolls could fund between $300-$500 million toward a $590 milli… Continue

Michel and I want to know if you're still holding court at Cafe 1134 and when?

Casey,

Actually, we were sort of goofing at your expense as we thought one of your campaign promises was to hold court at 1134 so your citizens would have access. Everytime we walk by we don't see you so Michel opined that you were breaking your campaign promise. I noted that since we only walked by at about 3:15 M-F that there WAS a chance you were there on other days or other times. I told him I'd email you and find out. And, I did. Thanks for getting back to me.

How is the city of Coronado responding to the fact that there are two swine flu cases at the Amphibious Base and two at North Island, a total of four in Coronado. What is the Navy doing to contain the virus?
