Coronado...Paradise Found!

Profile Information

How are you connected to Coronado?
I'm a Coronado local.
What are some things you love about Coronado? Favorite places on the island?
Coronado Island still blows my mind every time I cross the bridge and realize that this is my home. Some of my favorite things include: beaches, parks, library, community center, theatre, tennis courts, mainstreet and bumping into friends and neighbors everywhere I go. My family is safe here in Coronado and it feels like a big playground - for adults and kids alike. I truly love Coronado and could not image every living anywhere else!

How Coronado Roads changed sailing

Posted on June 17, 2013 at 2:45pm 0 Comments

It’s the water. And the weather.

No sport in San Diego has produced more world champions than sailing. And no area in the world has produced more world sailing champions than San Diego.

Why?

San Diego certainly doesn’t have the largest sailing population in the world.…

Restaurant Recipe: Salsa from Coronado's Costa Azul

Posted on June 14, 2013 at 6:01pm 0 Comments

Dear SOS: On vacation, my husband and I ate at an amazing restaurant in Coronado, Calif., called Costa Azul. They have the best smoked salsa we've ever had. Unfortunately, we live 21/2 hours away. I asked the waiter for the recipe, but he said they don't give it out. I would love to surprise my amazing husband on our anniversary with it. Could you please get the recipe?…

Dessert-wise, I have to say Nado-Gelato is one of my favorites. It's the only place to go for authentic italian ice cream, and the entire staff is incredibly friendly.

One of the most difficult things about going out for dessert is that there's almost always someone who "just wants some coffee." Nado Gelato also serves coffee, which is roasted right here in Coronado as well. (Blue Bridge Coffee) They really know their way around the espresso machine, so you can enjoy an incredible latte with or without your cup of gelato.

Thanks for the welcome -- great looking publication! Sally and I are walking across the USA again in 2010 to promote healthy living and eCoronado will make it possible for us to stay connected to "home" while on the road. This is a wonderful addition to the community.

We'd be happy to keep eCoronado posted with blog entries ... and photos and movies if you'd like. Just let us know what works well for you. Plenty of time to figure out details -- we begin on 3/23/10 (National Diabetes Awareness Day) and end in Boston on 11/12/10 (World Diabetes Day).
