Coronado...Paradise Found!

Profile Information

How are you connected to Coronado?
I'm a Coronado local.
What are some things you love about Coronado? Favorite places on the island?
Coronado Island still blows my mind every time I cross the bridge and realize that this is my home. Some of my favorite things include: beaches, parks, library, community center, theatre, tennis courts, mainstreet and bumping into friends and neighbors everywhere I go. My family is safe here in Coronado and it feels like a big playground - for adults and kids alike. I truly love Coronado and could not image every living anywhere else!

Guess where this was taken?

" That shot is from high in the old boat house where I learned to sail at a summer camp.  It was called the Rainbow Fleet and we stored the sailboats in the main area of the boat house.  Great days then! Tom Keck  "

Certificated teacher salaries will not only increase by 6.9% over a two year period, they will also be commensurate with the average salary paid by most other school districts.  If agreed to by ACT members and by the CUSD Governing Board, the agreement will continue in effect until June…

Did you make it out to the "secret" concert on the beach last night?  If you didn't, you missed out on one of the most public "private" concerts Coronado has ever seen.

Tim McGraw was hired by Zaxby's (a Georgia-based franchised chain of restaurants) to perform a private concert on the beach property in front of the Hotel del Coronado.  Zaxby's had been holding their corporate offsite at the hotel which coordinated the event.  The beach property near the hotel is…

Dessert-wise, I have to say Nado-Gelato is one of my favorites. It's the only place to go for authentic italian ice cream, and the entire staff is incredibly friendly.

One of the most difficult things about going out for dessert is that there's almost always someone who "just wants some coffee." Nado Gelato also serves coffee, which is roasted right here in Coronado as well. (Blue Bridge Coffee) They really know their way around the espresso machine, so you can enjoy an incredible latte with or without your cup of gelato.

Thanks for the welcome -- great looking publication! Sally and I are walking across the USA again in 2010 to promote healthy living and eCoronado will make it possible for us to stay connected to "home" while on the road. This is a wonderful addition to the community.

We'd be happy to keep eCoronado posted with blog entries ... and photos and movies if you'd like. Just let us know what works well for you. Plenty of time to figure out details -- we begin on 3/23/10 (National Diabetes Awareness Day) and end in Boston on 11/12/10 (World Diabetes Day).
