The Historic Home Debate (As Seen on SignOnSanDiego)

One of the things I love most about living on Coronado is the varying styles or architecture you encounter. Scatted along avenues and streets, you'll find mission style, spanish style, beach bungalow, historic residences ... and more! Visitors to the island (really peninsula) are charmed to ride bikes by the "baby del" or see the "wizard of oz house," as much as I am to show it to them! Historic homes dotted along our streets are so unique to Coronado. In my opinion, if you want to level a…See More

IMAX Opening – Tornado Alley – at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center

When I’m not enjoying my evenings and weekends at home in our little slice of paradise on Coronado, I’m working in Balboa Park at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center and visiting the 15 museums housed within “San Diego’s Cultural Jewel.”It’s a busy month at the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center as we prepare to open the IMAX blockbuster Tornado Alley. Anyone who’s caught an episode of Storm Chasers on the Discovery Channel knows the intensity, adrenaline and sheer awe of seeing the spectacle of…See More

Last Minute Coronado Holiday Shopping Ideas

Last minute shopping? Want to shop local and support community businesses? Here are some of my favorite Coronado ideas for finding last-minute gifts right at home on Coronado. Seaside Papery is my go-to for great gifts for girlfriends, sister or mom. Something a little outside the box -- that will be appreciated for months to come -- is to put together a collection of cards for all season and occasions. How many times do you realize at…See More

Family Friendly Attractions: Coronado + Other Bridgeworthy Spots

I was excited to see that the January 2011 issue of Woman's Day Magazine includes a round-up of 7 great spots around San Diego to enjoy with kids in tow. Coronado makes the list, starting with a ferry ride, a stop at Hotel Del Coronado, and of course kids will not want to miss MooTime for a yummy treat! Also on the list, the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center in Balboa Park - the reader says, "Finding a museum that appeals to a 4-year-old and two preteens isn’t easy. But the Fleet has cool stuff…See More

Marva, you are right. I believe the last tree lot in Coronado was back in 2000. It was located at the corner of 9th and Orange (I think). I'm glad to see this coming back again to Coronado.
