Beautiful Day in Coronado

I went to visit my family today in Coronado and the weather felt like summer. Amazing blue sky and warm sunshine made is a spectacular visit. I love living in Orange County, but there is something special about island life. Ahhhh....

Coronado eyes repeat against rival Bishop's

Coronado High junior Ashley Young had the flu, one teammate had mono, another a sore back, and two more sprained thumbs in the two weeks leading to the girls water polo playoffs.



Come the postseason, though, the Islanders seemed to find healing waters in the pool. The defending San Diego Section Division II champions appeared in top form in the semifinals last night.

Mayor Tanaka Views Coronado From the Sky

NAVAL BASE CORONADO, Calif., -- Naval Base Coronado Commanding Officer, Capt. Tony Gaiani, and Coronado Mayor, Casey Tanaka, took to the air today to view firsthand the approaches and flight patterns followed by Naval Aircraft at Naval Air Station North Island.

Free Online Education Tool Available For Military Families

CORONADO, Calif., -- The Student Online Achievement Resource (SOAR) is an internet-based program free for military families designed to help military students in grades 3-12 with math, reading, and language arts.

DUI Checkpoint in Coronado Nets 11 Arrests

Police reported that a law enforcement checkpoint on the island side of the San Diego-Coronado Bridge resulted in the arrests of 11 suspected drunken drivers and 28 vehicles being impounded.



The operation wrapped up early today, but the names of those arrested were unavailable, according to Chula Vista police Agent Rusty Rea.



Three people were booked on suspicion of possessing marijuana, he said.
