Time to Renovate the Senior Center!

Your presence is requested at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting!

Our Senior Center, located on Orange in across from the park, is visible to all. It should be the pride of our community. It is not. In fact, the non-descript little building next to our beautiful library was originally used as an equipment maintenance facility by the City.

Seniors, and soon-to-be seniors, are happy to hear the news about Tuesday's City Council meeting because City Manager…

Neighborhoods: A taste of Orange (Avenue)

“Authentic, vibrant and pedestrian friendly” is how Rita Sarich, executive director of Coronado MainStreet Ltd., describes Orange Avenue. Coronado’s main drag is a reflection of a city as a whole: rooted in the famous hotel, crisscrossed by Navy traffic, dappled with beach culture and comfortable at a moderate tempo.

Landmarks: Orange Avenue is anchored at the south end by the iconic Hotel del Coronado. The hotel, which opened in 1888, is credited with spawning the avenue’s business… Continue

“OFFICERS’ ROW 1904:” New Book Looks Into Chapters Of Our Past

With so many books on San Diego and Coronado history around, it's amazing there are still stories to be told. One woman’s passion for our history, however, has led to a fresh new book, “Officers’ Row 1904,” based on a true story that captures a bygone era of Army glory in Coronado and Point Loma.…

Famous Muny Coronado Golf Course in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA – I had a little extra time to spare before I was due back at San Diego Airport (which I like a lot, by the way, far less of a madhouse than the forever under construction LAX). So I thought I’d go check out one of America’s great, affordable (and busy) municipal golf courses, Coronado Golf Course.

I wasn’t expecting to get in any holes, just have a sneak peak around and soak in the scene for a few minutes. I love muny atmospheres: the jean shorts, the brownish Top… Continue

'Tanaka Graffiti' Hits Coronado School and City Property

Multiple stop signs, parking signs, intersection signs and at least one tennis court sign were tagged with the image of Mayor Casey Tanaka.  The graffiti reported was found outside the CHS tennis courts, Palm Academy and Coronado High School.  Most of the instances were near the intersection of 6th Street and D Avenue.

We contacted Coronado High School earlier this morning and they were not aware of the graffiti.  They said that they would contact the custodian to…

Description:

Looks like Itchy (weiner dog) from the movie "All Dogs Go to Heaven"  Seam on back of dog. Hole in tail. Ears missing. No mouth. Eyes hand drawn. Very…
