More On Pebble Beach And Coronado

Yesterday I did a quick check on availability at the No. 1 public course in the country. If you have $495 and a free wish, it looks like April is a good month to play Pebble Beach.

The Daly brothers agreed with my column, but growing up in Coronado, they aren't happy with me. They don't appreciate the fact that I keep promoting their home course, making it more difficult to secure tee times . . .

Coronado firefighter honored for his training

CORONADO — An Explorer program and a big fire ignited Darren Hall’s passion for firefighting and teaching — two skills that led the Coronado fire captain to receive a statewide award this week as Training Officer of the Year.

Hall credited one of his Hilltop High School teachers in Chula Vista for suggesting a firefighting career. He joined the Chula Vista Fire Department Explorer Program, which was how he happened to help on a hose line the night an arsonist torched four classrooms… Continue

Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez - Let the Good Times Roll in New Orleans

The Navy sends John to a few conventions a year, to less-than-exciting places like Panama City. When he asked me to tag along with him for a quick jaunt to New Orleans, my mind wandered off to visions of the historic and colorful French Quarter, dining opportunities at a few of the well-known chefs' restaurants, and a welcome break from the legal world.
