Group detained after Boat Capsizes off Coronado

CORONADO, Calif. -- Border Patrol agents detained some suspected illegal immigrants on the beach shortly after a smuggling boat capsized off Coronado early Friday, leaving the Coast Guard to search the ocean for other survivors, authorities said.

The capsizing was reported near the Silver Strand at 5:38 a.m., according to Coronado police.

Maytag Washer and Dryer for sale

Hello Coronado!  I unfortunately have to move off the beautiful island for a reason many of you may relate to - military orders.  I do, however, have a 2010 Maytag Centennial Washer/Dryer for sale - great condition!  They are available immediately - the set for $500.  Please let me know ASAP if you or someone you know is interested!  I have loved every minute of life on the island this past year and hope to come back in 2-3 years!  Thanks for the memories!

CSF Launches Summer Enrichment Program, June 11th to July 6th

Dear CUSD Families:



The Coronado Schools Foundation is launching a new Coronado Summer Enrichment Program, grades K-12.  Taught by accredited teachers, this fee-for-service program will provide fun, innovative ways for students to strengthen their 21st century learning skills in many STEAM-related areas.



Dates:  June 11th through Friday, July 6th, 8 am to 12 noon, with July 4th a holiday.

Whitney DeSantis Selected as New Principal of Village Elementary School





Coronado Unified School District Superintendent Jeff Felix announced today that Whitney DeSantis has been selected as the new principal of Village Elementary School for the 2012-2013 school year. Seven plead guilty for Navy contracting fraud

Four Navy officials and three defense contractors pleaded guilty to corruption charges related to a cash-for-contracts scheme at the Naval Air Station in Coronado, the U.S. attorney’s office in San Diego said.
