Coronado 4th of July Parade on Channel 19

The Coronado 4th of July parade will be broadcast live on Times Warner Channel 19 starting at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 4, from 1100 Orange Avenue.

The students from KCMS will be the narrators and will be commenting on the parade for this live broadcast. They will also be interviewing individuals… Continue

5am Wake Up Call for 4th of July Parade Spot

UPDATE: See what actually happened the morning of July 4th!

In the past, folks used to camp out the night before on Orange Avenue to get the best spot for the 4th of July parade. Due to safety issues (and to allow me more sleep!), an ordinance was amended to prevent folks from 'staking out spots' before 5am.

See you Saturday… Continue

Coronado’s mayor on the economy, education and ‘inconveniences’

Note: Detailed interview with Mayor Tanaka. Be sure to watch the video interview as well:

But, as the mayor of Coronado and a high school history teacher, Casey Tanaka has a jam-packed schedule, more than what his casual attire may… Continue

150 Years ???... Where is the Crime?

Can some erudite soul, please tell me what is Bernie Madoff's crime? He promised people a steady 10% return on their money, and paid old timers off with money from the young ones. Yo ! our Government is doing the same thing and paying only 6% on the long bond. Is there really any difference? Bernie goes to jail Bernanke et.al. get a nice Federal retirement. Why the difference? Do we have one… Continue

July 4th Memories

Every year is so much fun on the 4th in Coronado with the parade, the family picnics and the fireworks.
