Rebecca Zahau's Family Asking for Independent Investigation from State Attorney General

Rebecca Zahau's sister appeared on NBC Today with Anne Bremner on Friday to explain why her family is asking for a private investigation from the State Attorney General. The Zahau family has not been given a copy of the police report and believes they are still missing vital information from the police department. The Zahua family's request is different from Jonah Shacknai's recent request from the State Attorney General becuase he did not allege a problem with the original investigation.…

Does Coronado Have a Soundtrack? What Songs are on it?

Every time I drive across the Coronado bridge I prep myself for the experience. Rolling down the windows, choosing the perfect song, and then turning up the volume, I am ready for my beautiful journey across. Songs like "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty & The Heartbreaker's,  "Already Gone" by the Eagles, and "Free Ride" by Edgar Winter Group have lately been my songs of choice. Now that Fall is here and Summer is gone, my favorites may change. But, I want to know what everyone else listens…

Video: BLAST from the Past - SEAL Demonstration on July 4th

We remember watching the 1999 4th of July Navy SEAL demonstration and being blown away by the beach explosions, SEALs firing their weapons (blanks), helicopter water retrievals and the roar of the crowds.  Below are two videos that do a great capturing these moments.  They stopped the demonstrations in 2000 and are not planning any in the immediate future.

Welcome Home: Boxer Amphibious Ready Group Returns To SD

SAN DIEGO -- About 1,800 sailors were expected to return home to Coronado Friday from a seven-month deployment to the Western Pacific and the Middle East.



The amphibious assault ship USS Boxer and two other ships in its ready group will return to Naval Air Station North Island sometime Friday morning, according to the U.S. Pacific Fleet Public Affairs Office.

Walgreens and Which Wich Designs Move Forward – Gain Approval from the DRC

 

The Design Review Commission (DRC) met again yesterday, September 28, to discuss and determine the proposed Walgreens redesign to the former Petco building, new awnings for Which Wich, and an update to Island Fitness.



The meeting was partially a continuation of the September 14th meeting, at which Chairperson Todd Shallan suggested to reconvene to give the architect the opportunity and time to make revisions to the Walgreens design.

Photo: Star Park Circle Getting New Curbs, Street and Cut-Outs

We were riding by and noticed all the construction going on around Star Park Circle.  The workers explained that the street was getting repaved, new curbs going in around the park and a few cut-outs on the surrounding sidewalks for easier access crossing the streets.

Downtown Coronado Sidewalk Repairs To Begin Monday

The City of Coronado will begin repairing portions of sidewalk in the downtown area from the 900 to the 1100 block of Orange Avenue as part of the City’s Downtown Sidewalk Repair project.

Crews will repair those areas of sidewalk that have been damaged by invasive roots from nearby trees, and install root barriers to prevent future damage.
