Len Kaine greets Newt Gingrich

Captain Len Kaine, a US Navy retired Fighter Pilot, had a special opportunity to greet former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich at a book signing event in Coronado, CA. Coronado councilman Al Ovrom finally wins new term

CORONADO — Al Ovrom has been reelected to the Coronado City Council. The incumbent beat challenger Doug Metz, a Coronado school board member, by 15 votes.



This is the second close race for Ovrom; the first was in 2006.



“There were three very good candidates,” Ovrom said. “Even if I lost, the city would have had a good guy in Doug. I was just fortunate that I had 15 more votes than he did.”

Coronado Resident Honored at Soroptimist Breakfast Honoring Those Who Help Women and Children

Coronado resident Carol Raiter and United Through Reading were honored by Soroptimist International of La Mesa at its 53rd annual Pre-Thanksgiving Breakfast on November 24 for her volunteer work with the nonprofit organization. 4 Injured In 4-Car Crash On Coronado Bridge

SAN DIEGO -- Four people were injured in a four-car crash on the eastbound lanes of the Coronado Bridge Sunday, authorities said.

The accident occurred just before 2 p.m. near the bridge's Interstate 5 interchange, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department dispatcher said.

The Coronado Police Department is investigating a single vehicle traffic collision that occurred at 9:45pm at the 900 block of Glorietta Blvd between Vista Place and Monterey Avenue that resulted in the death of one male juvenile and injury to two additional male juveniles.
