3 Destination Wedding Must Haves

There are 1,000s of details that go into your big day. When you add the element of destination, there are a few luxuries of home that you forget to account for. Here are three to make sure to consider:

Transportation

If you are arriving by plane, you will need to plan out your transportation for the remainder of the trip. The easiest solution, for both you, your bridal party and guests, is to choose a venue and hotel that are extremely close, within…

Winning a Bidding War in Coronado

There’s no hiding that the housing market in Coronado is competitive right now. Demand is at an all-time high. Inventory has not increased to meet the demand. To add to the mix, the housing market has corrected increasing home values.

As always, Coronado is a unique market. But it has come full circle to be a seller’s market.…

When is the Best Time to Buy or Upgrade Real Estate in Coronado?

With the constant real estate cycles, many homebuyers want to time the market. They are subscribing to the old saying, “Buy low, and sell high.”

The problem is that you don’t always know where you are in the market. The real estate market can be very similar to the stock market. If you always try to time it by jumping in and out, it won’t work to your advantage in the long run. There are just too many variables.

Rather than blindly following old adages, here…

Shorelines Gallery Moves Online; Two New Shops Coming to Orange Avenue

There are three major changes coming to the retail space along Orange Avenue. First, Coronado will say goodbye to the brick and mortar space of Shorelines Gallery.  Shorelines Gallery sold jewelry, art, and sculptures from over 100 different American artists. It was always a treat to wander in the store - the gallery constantly had new works of jewelry and art displayed throughout the shop.

Shorelines Gallery's last day on Orange Avenue will be this Thursday, April 30, but…

Sun Deck Bar & Restaurant at the Hotel Del Coronado Unrolls New Mexican Menu

Dark clouds scuttled over the skyline on Thursday evening, and cold breezes whipped up off the water, but the food on the Hotel Del Coronado's Sun Deck hadn't gotten the memo.

There, everything was sunny and bright. The menu sparkled with the warm flavors of summer, from the fresca pisco cooler at the beginning to the dulce de leche-stuffed churro at the end.

The Del has previously only featured this Mexican-inspired menu in the summertime, but it was…

Two Hidden Gems for Locals on the Landing: Miss Match and Men's Mojo

Coronado locals tend to think of the Ferry Landing as a place with some good restaurants, but not really a place to shop. The stores there, which many locals regard as filled with key chains, T-shirts, and beach-themed snow globes, are for the tourists streaming off the ferry; but nestled between the bike rentals and sea shell stores are two boutiques that have much to offer Coronado locals as well as our visitors:  Miss Match, an exciting boutique for all women (which I couldn't…

City Poised to Create a Second Tourist District to Market Coronado in the Off-Season

Plans are afoot to market Coronado a tourist destination during the winter, as well as summer, by creating a second Coronado Tourism Improvement District. Unlike the original Coronado Tourism Improvement District (CTID), the second district, dubbed CTIDII, will only target conventions and large groups and will have little or no impact on Village life in general, except to boost local businesses, its proponents say.  The city council will take up the proposal at its April 21…

Obituary: Natasha Sandrock Arthur (1968-2015)

Dear Friends and Family of Natasha,

This is Natasha’s husband, George. I want to thank all of you for your warm outpouring of love and support for Natasha and her family during this sad time. She meant to much to so many people and will be sorely missed. She certainly was the brightest star in my universe and I will always love her. All of us who knew her best realize that she always defaulted to the positive view of any situation, so we are trying to follow her…
