Governor's Budget Proposal Will Ultimately Hurt Coronado Public Schools

The Governor’s proposal is unique and unlike any other. Since there are so many new legislators in Sacramento this year, it will be difficult for this proposal to be understood and approved in a timely manner. Consequently, it is difficult for me to predict the final budget outcome in June. It appears that we may have a revenue increase of one percent, but until we know more, I am just glad we appear to be finished with the funding cuts we have suffered over the past five years.

Navy first responders may react to emergencies at Coronado school

CORONADO, Calif. - The U.S. Navy may send first responders to a San Diego-area elementary school in the event of a major emergency.

On Thursday, the Coronado Unified School District hosted its monthly safety walkthrough at Silver Strand Elementary School. It included representatives from the Coronado Police and Fire departments, as well as the Navy. The partnership is believed to be the only one of its kind in the country.

Coronado Middle School Accepting Blankets for Homeless

Coronado Middle School is accepting new or gently used blankets at their 500 F Avenue location.  They will have donation areas set up in the office until December 20, 2012.  CMS recently completed a canned food drive (video below courtesy of KCMS).

How Stolen Christmas Decorations Put a "Miracle" Into Action

Five days ago, my mother passed away. It has turned my world upside down. Although there are days that my grief is not as strong, I have days like today where all I want to do is hide in my room and not go outside.



This morning was one of those days.... I was on my way to submit the obituary to the Coronado Eagle/Journal when I noticed all of my Christmas decorations along my fence were stolen. It just broke my heart because my mother loved the decorations.
