Can You Help Save a Cat's Life? Meet Cal

Cal is one very cool cat and is what we would term a “turnkey” cat. He is as friendly and affectionate as he is handsome. Cal comes out to meet every visitor with enthusiasm and is extremely generous with his head butts and allorubs. It is obvious that this guy thinks people are great.

Cal’s build is like a feline football player – he has a big head and a thick, muscular neck that he enjoys having massaged. Having lived outdoors, he has a few scars from his…

PAWS Pet of the Week - Willow

Help this Willow Blossom

Sweet Willow and her companion Fern were brought in ACF at the request of a Naval housing resident, who let us know that Willow and Fern were left behind when their family moved away.

  • Willow is very people oriented, and is not shy about asking for pets and affection.
  • Willow can be playful and is very fond of catnip, but still not quite sure what cat toys are all about--yet.
  • Willow is enjoying her…

PAWS of Coronado Cat of the Week: Black Beauty

Thea and three other kitten companions were found by a PAWS volunteer outside of the Barber Shop on Orange Ave. They were humanely trapped and brought into the ACF. They have all been adopted except for Thea.

  • Thea is a little shy when she first meets new people, preferring to carefully size people up before snuggling.
  • Once Thea warms up, she enjoys pets and affection from her human friends. It doesn’t take much to get her purring.
  • Thea also gets along…

PAWS of Coronado Pet of the Week: Adora

Someone to Love and Adora

Our sweet Adora was found as a stray when she was still a young kitten. Her time on her own has made her a little shy and wary of humans to start, but with a little love and patience, this girl will be sure to settle in and steal your heart.

  • Adora is a sweet and gentle cat, and willingly accepts pets and affection once she has warmed up.
  • Adora does well with other cats, and would love a confident, friendly…

PAWS of Coronado Featured Cats of the Week- Meet Felix and Shadow

Shadow

A Dynamic Duo! Felix and his brother Shadow were part of a litter of four kittens born under a porch in Coronado to momma cat Boots.

Boots and her gang went to a foster home where the kittens had the best of it all – an attentive, loving momma cat and a family of people to help socialize them. This loving beginning has helped shape them into wonderful cats.

Felix and Shadow are a dynamic duo with good looks and stellar personalities. These two boys are…

An Open Letter to the Public over Recent Concerns

Dear Friends:

Many of our supporters have contacted us with concerns over the ringworm outbreak at the Coronado Animal Care Facility. Unfortunately, we have become aware that many people have received inaccurate information regarding the situation. Here are the true facts:

The Coronado Animal Care Facility (ACF) is operated and managed by the Coronado Police Department (CPD). PAWS is a separate, private, charitable 501(c)(3) organization which only handles the…

PAWS of Coronado Featured Cat of the Week- Meet Sophia!

Where am I?

That is what the beautiful Tuxedo cat Sophia thought as she hid in the bushes near the condos at the end of First Street.  The tenants of the complex figured out after a few days that Sophia was obviously lost or abandoned and they gathered her up and took her to the Coronado Animal Care Facility to make sure she was taken care of.

It turns out that Sophia is a delightful cat – sweet natured, gentle and loving.…
