"Dark Shadows" is a fun blend of comedy and horror, following a lovelorn vampire across centuries.
This past Mother’s Day Sunday I went to see Tim Burton’s new film, “Dark Shadows,” at the Coronado Village Theatre. I have visited our gorgeous hometown theater many times since the grand re-opening, but this was the first time I had watched a movie in one of the smaller two theaters that flank the large,…

This past weekend was full of events and excitement in beautiful Coronado, CA. The annual Coronado Flower Show was in full bloom Saturday and Sunday in Spreckels Park. This year's theme was "A Floral Olympiad" in honor of the fast approaching Summer Olympics being held in London this year. The Coronado Flower Show is the largest flower show "held under tents in the nation," according to the show's website.
I love attending the Coronado Flower Show every year, and this year was…

A fast-paced, comedy-adventure with lots of laughs and high school flashbacks!
I recently went to see the new action-comedy, 21 Jump Street, at the lovely Village Theatre located right here in Coronado. With Cherry Coke and freshly popped popcorn in hand, I excitedly settled in to watch this box office hit. The film is a movie-remake of the famous 1980’s television show, bearing the same name,…

A fast-paced story and lots of laughs make "This Means War" an entertaining choice at the box office.
Last night I attended the newly released romantic comedy “This Means War” at Coronado’s Village Theatre. Happily munching fresh, buttered popcorn, I settled in with my fiance to enjoy this much anticipated film. The movie stars Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, and Tom Hardy. In the movie, FDR (Pine) and Tuck (Hardy) play two CIA agents who…

A vintage-style silent film taking the modern world by storm.
On Monday night, I attended the evening showing of the critically acclaimed film, "The Artist", at the beautifully restored Village Theatre. It seemed very appropriate to view this vintage style film about the dawning age of motion pictures in a vintage theater complete with red, velvet curtains and an Art Deco design. The…
