Chicano Park Day celebrates a people’s struggles

How many times have you driven over the Coronado Bridge? If you're a native of San Diego, it's probably been many. Still, many San Diegans don't know the interesting history that lies beneath the bridge - a history that is celebrated every year on Chicano Park Day.

Barrio Logan, located in southeast San Diego, is home to many Mexican Americans and Mexican immigrants who have been settling into the community as early as the 1890s. During the 1960s, the landscape of Barrio Logan…

Embedded In Coronado, U.S.A.

Coronado Police Officer Ryan serves the Crown City well. Coronado PD granted me a four-hour ride along with Ryan. We met mid-morning and got to right to cruising. I was impressed how he assured his safety and mine. I don’t see a lot of news coming from Coronado, so I ask about trouble spots. Beyond motorized lawbreakers, there isn’t a lot of crime, although they’re not immune. I heard about jewelry thefts, bank robberies, even stolen bicycles – left unlocked. They watch for trucks full of…

Coronado Pharmacy Closed at 918 Orange Avenue - Walgreens Rumors Grow Louder

We snapped this photo of Coronado Pharmacy at 918 Orange Avenue last weekend.  We tried calling the store, but the voicemail box was full and we were unable to get any additional information.

About a month ago, we snapped the below picture when we noticed the CBRE 'for lease' sign on top of the building:

We have received tips of a Walgreens going in at the old Petco store location at 925 Orange Ave (photo below) directly across the street…
