Coronado’s wide and sandy shoreline once again has made Dr. Beach’s list of top 10 U.S. beaches, moving up one spot this year to No. 3.

Rhetoric heats up on Coronado tunnel issue

CORONADO — Coronado’s Proposition H on the June primary ballot is expected to send a crucial message to city leaders — either voters are tired of traffic in their town, or voters are tired with talk of a tunnel to help reduce traffic congestion.

Man with cerebral palsy plans to scale El Capitan

CORONADO — Stephen Wampler can’t walk, but if all goes according to plan the 41-year-old Coronado resident will become the first person with cerebral palsy to scale the 3,000-foot El Capitan granite monolith at Yosemite National Park.



His climb is set for the last week of summer.

CUSD Negotiations Update: Tentative Contract Agreement for the 2010-2011 Fiscal Year

After five months of negotiations with the Association of Coronado Teachers, the Coronado Unified School District has reached a tentative contract agreement for the 2010-2011 fiscal year. 4.3 quake off Mexico jiggles San Diego

A magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred beneath the seafloor off Rosarito Beach Tuesday night, producing shaking that was briefly and lightly felt in the more populated areas of San Diego County, the U.S. Geological Survey. Coronado seniors graduate with honors in relay

CORONADO — For the last swim meet of their high school careers, four Coronado High seniors decided to attempt to break a 17-year-old section relay record.

Coronado polo player ready for the sprints

CORONADO — During spring break, Coronado senior Rex Butler played water polo in Hungary. Next fall, he will join the team at USC.

Officer uses Taser on unruly customer

CORONADO — A California Highway Patrol officer used a Taser to subdue a belligerent man at a deli Tuesday, authorities said.



The 21-year-old man, who appeared to be intoxicated, tried to buy a 40-ounce beer at Central Liquor on Orange Avenue at Second Street about 7:50 p.m., but the clerk refused to sell it to him, said CHP Officer Art Athans.

Quake that shook San Diego registers 4.5

We felt this quake yesterday on Coronado as we were walking through the offices above RiteAid:



The 7.2 magnitude Easter Sunday earthquake near Mexicali produced a 4.5 aftershock at 5:38 p.m. Tuesday centered near Ocotillo and felt in San Diego County, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
