Coronado Bicycle Etiquette - Public Service Announcement: "I am a Bike"

A public service announcement, "I am a Bike" was produced by Surf's Up Studios and stars Coronado locals, all filmed right here on the island!

Thank you Ashley, Amelia, Sam and Sheila.

In Coronado, bike riders under the age of 18 are legally required to wear a helmet.

No humans were harmed in the making of this PSA (barely!)

With Summer just around the corner, it's probably a good thing for Coronado locals to set an excellent example for visitors - walk that bike on downtown sidewalks - you'll remain ticketless and make more friends!

Great work!  When locking a bike, the cable needs to go through the FRAME-not just the front wheel as it can be removed easily and replaced cheaply.  FAR too many bike thefts in Nado!

Nice, short video reminding us of some important things when using our bikes.  It is also very important that helmets fit CORRECTLY!  I saw a boy this morning riding to school with a helmet that was, literally, sideways on his head.  We should wear them not only because it's the law (for those under 18) but because a properly fitted helmet may very well save our life in the event of an accident.  Thanks SurfsUpStudios.

Very cute! Wish more could see it! An important thing was left out, however. Bikes need to follow the rules of the road. I cannot tell you how many times I see bikes running stop signs and red lights, and riding bikes on the road AGAINST the flow of traffic. I understand that some folks are from other countries and may not know these exact rules, but the worst offenders I've seen are locals. We need to do a better job of educating EVERYONE. :)

Pamela-OH so true!  As an avid cyclist, I  hate seeing that behavior more than most as I am "lumped in" with the goofballs.  A  "cyclist" DOES stop at signs, lights etc.  It's not that tough.  All a bike rider needs to happen to change their ways is either education, citation, OR in some cases becoming someone's "hood ornament".
