Starbucks Applies for Permit to Open Second Village Location at 135 Orange Avenue

Coronado, are you ready for another Starbucks?

In a recent City of Coronado public hearing notice, it shows that Starbucks has filed a coastal permit application for a "Formula Fast Food Restaurant" at 135 Orange Avenue.  This location has been vacant since being built roughly four years ago.  It's near the Coronado Baptist church and a block away from Coronado Ferry Landing.  This will be the second location for Starbucks in the Coronado village.  The other location is at 960 Orange Avenue.  There is an additional Starbucks on North Island that opened last October.  The notice and a photo are below:

I like the idea of Starbucks on this end of Coronado although I am not a fan of Starbucks serving alcohol in either location.  My car may never move on the weekend again if this is approved!

As far as the Walgreens goes, a bigger store will have a lot more to offer and many of the older people who don't drive as well as people with limited incomes will appreciate the convenience and variety that a national chain with fairly reasonable prices brings.

Coronado has to adjust with the times which may mean a few more of these type businesses.  The demographic is changing and not everyone in Coronado has money.

What I want to know is what are those above the location?  Condo's or apartments? So we could buy one and put in a slide or fireman's pole and just drop right in? HEAVEN! :-)

Too bad, this space seems to have been vacant for a long time and I'm guessing the leasing cost will be too expensive for most non-franchise small businesses.

Declined? NOOOOO - I was looking forward to that!  And Herbert is right, it is just vacant anyway - would have been good for all the businesses down here!!!
