Coronado Bridge Reopened - Man Taken Into Custody

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The Coronado Bridge was closed in both directions Tuesday morning, after someone threatened to jump, according to the California Highway Patrol and San Diego police.

The bridge was closed at about 4:25 a.m. "due to police activity," the CHP reported on its website.

The man was taken into custody shortly before 7 a.m., a CHP dispatcher said. Officers began to re-open lanes just after 7 a.m., a dispatcher said.

2nd jumper of the day was just found in the Bay. Hopefully some type of fencing will be erected soon. Hopefully we don't see any jumpers for quite some time as today was not a good day for the bridge.

Really sad to see people reaching a point in their lives where this is the best option in their rationale.

BTW, coming into the island this past Sat and were greeted on the bridge by a man on a bicycle...

Unfortunately, my husband saw the jumper on Monday evening. It happened very quickly and when he stopped to let the police know, they were shocked and had never seen anything on their cameras.
