We have seen law enforcement officers from Escondido, El Cajon, San Diego, and the CHP in town this morning. Does anyone know why they are helping out?

I wonder if the Coronado Police are having a meeting regarding 4th of July and they are here covering. Just a thought.

I got a tweet from the City of Coronado announcing that it is hosting the county-wide inter-agency traffic enforcement day.  It ended at 11:30am

Thanks for all the info. My husband found out it was some kind of fundraiser and he and the kids ate with the officers for $5 each. :)

It was a fund raiser alright... I’ve lived all over this country and have never seen so many cars pulled over in so many places in such a small town... I passed 5 Police trap locations just driving off the island to work...  with numerous cars lined up at each location. In 3, it created an obvious traffic hazard and distraction for other motorists. According to the Chula Vista officer I spoke to as he ticketed me for exceeding the speed limit by 2 MPH(yes, I was ticketed for doing 67mph on the Strand), they were sent to Coronado to “help the Coronado police department regain control of the streets”.. Apparently our streets were out of control. I sure hope all that revenue generated yesterday will stay in Coronado and that the police “takeover” of our island helped stop the burglaries, bike thefts, vandalism, drug use and or high number of suicides from our bridge ... I assume Chula Vista, El Cajon and Escondido didn't need their police yesterday because they have already gotten their streets under control.... Ticket or not, it was a sad day to be in Coronado to see so many traps all over the island. It may not have been the best use of that  many officers, time but I am pretty sure it was a very successful fund raiser.
