There will be a special episode of Chopped with previous winners of Food Network Star that will air at 5pm PT on July 22nd, 2012.
This will air right before the Food Network Star finale where the newest winner will be announced.
The competitors will include: Melissa d’Arabian, Amy Finley, Jeff Mauro, and Aarti Sequeira. Also, instead of the normal Chopped judges, Bobby Flay, Giada De Laurentiis and Alton Brown will be judging the contestants.

We can't wait to root for Melissa on Chopped. Ever since our youngest attended the "Kids in the Kitchen" event with Melissa, our girls love to tune in to her show. Go Melissa Go!
Comment by Melissa Darabian on July 16, 2012 at 11:17am Oh wow...thank you for the support! I'm VERY excited to be competing in this charity event. I competed on behalf of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, a cause that means a tremendous amount to me. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to raise the volume on a national conversation that so far seems to be held in whispers. Plus, Chopped just makes for some GREAT TV! yikes...I get stressed just watching the show...truly exciting like a sporting event!
Comment by Joan Denise Bryant on July 16, 2012 at 2:16pm I wonder if Melissa knows how many fans she has in Coronado? We rooted for you two years ago on FN Star even before you moved to Coronado; will certainly cheer you on this Sunday!

Comment by Melissa Darabian on July 17, 2012 at 9:38pm Joan, what lovely words of support! thank you!! Here's a link to information about the show, as well as a link on the page to a brief bit about my story as a survivor of my own mother's suicide. http://www.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=home.viewPage&page_ID=...
Comment by lisa on July 24, 2012 at 8:24pm Melissa was great! She should have won! If you buy her new cookbook on Food Network.com they will give a portion to her suicide prevention charity.
Comment by Melissa Darabian on July 24, 2012 at 8:57pm Lisa, you are so sweet...thank you for your words of support! And thank you for letting Coronado know about the after-Chopped fundraiser for suicide prevention! Just to clarify...Food Network is not involved at all in the donation (they can only support charities that they are officially in partnership with)...they are just letting me know how many books were sold. It's purely a personal donation...I love the work that AFSP is doing. I want to do my own small part to help prevent suicide. More information on the donation ($5 per book sold on FN store for 1 week) is available at my website www.melissadarabian.net.
