I joined Costco recently and I'm using the Costco at Market Street and the 15. Do you use that one or drive to another San Diego Costco? Why or why not?
I ask because when I signed up the Costco employee said, "Most people from Coronado don't use this Costco", but she didn't have a reason why.
Any other Costco tips will be greatly appreciated. All this bulk food is about to cause me some headaches.
Thanks!
Comment by lisa on December 27, 2012 at 11:46am I love the Market Street Costco! It only takes me 8 minutes to get there from Coronado. I have heard some Coronadans call it the "ghetto Costco" because it is not in a great neighborhood. I have never felt unsafe and everyone is very friendly there. I say let the other islanders go to Mission Valley Costco so that Market St. will stay uncrowded :)
I always buy a rotisserie chicken when I am there and my whole family loves it for dinner.
I agree with you Lisa and it's the only place I get gas!

Comment by William B Marty Jr on December 27, 2012 at 8:31pm The only disadvantage I have found to the Market Street Costco, is the lack of some high end items in the adult beverage section and occasional limited quantities of "fresh" produce on Sunday's (I think they get their shipments on Mondays). The biggest plus for Market Street are the much shorter gas station lines and ease of access. The best time to go to any Costco is right when it opens. The worst time is between 5 - 7 weekdays or any time after 11:00 on weekends.
There are times when the Market St. Costco gas is the cheapest of COSTCOs. Yes, Moreno and MIssion Valley have been $.05 more, really.
There is easy parking and close proximity to Coronado make it my choice. Of course, my husband works there, too.
Comment by Site Tutor on December 31, 2012 at 9:55am I go to the market street Costco and never had an issue. The people are nice and helpful and it's a short drive. Some people don't like it since you hear a number of people speak Spanish instead of English, but having lived overseas for almost a decade, that doesn't affect me as it might others.

Comment by Julie Bilbro on December 31, 2012 at 1:59pm Market Street Costco tops my list. The employees always remember us and call us by name. The other shoppers are great too. I've even had one stop his car and help me load mine when my hand was bandaged... I sometimes visit the other Costco locations if the have an item I can't get at Market, but the customers at those locations are often impatient at best and sometimes downright rude...
Comment by Howard Somers on December 31, 2012 at 4:06pm We use Market Street for most of our Costco shopping. As mentioned, however, there are items that are not found because they don't sell to their clientele (eg., all natural peanut butter). When we want to be sure to find something we go to the Moreno store. If Costco carries it you'll find it there. A secondary option is the Friar's Rd. warehouse.
Comment by Pat M. on January 1, 2013 at 9:00pm I agree with all the above comments. I only go to Market St. but some of my friends say they don't carry some of the higher end products probably due to the local shoppers tastes. Very friendly and helpful staff. Being close is the reason I go there.
