Comment by Pat Cooley on April 19, 2011 at 12:12pm Someone has a direct connection to Mother Nature because the weather for Saturday could not have been nicer. Please let us know who you are so we can thank you. Even the weather in the evening was beautiful for the GALA. Many people helped to make the evening event a success, too.
The caterer was El Tapitio. They brought in three "stations" so that there was plenty of delicious food, no long lines and a terrific salsa bar. The soft drinks were from El Tapitio, too.
Avenue Liquor provided us with the wine at a very inexpensive rate. Be sure to tell Nathan thanks if you go by there.
Nancy and Charles Helsper set up the beautiful display of "opportunity drawing items." Ann Boyd and her crew sold those tickets.
Sandy Jennings and a friend did the decorations, including the entry way poles... weren't they festive.
Sgt. Ken Ireland and 10 fantastic JROTC volunteers came to set up and help in any other way needed. WE couldn't have set up in one hour without their assistance.
Mary Sue Keces came up with the "chocolate table" three years ago and this continues to be a huge success. Judy Grobbel was in charge and even manned the "coffee". Carrie McPherson displayed the chocolates as if they were being sold at some fancy store on Rodeo Drive.
Check in was a little "rough" because of me, so thanks for your patience if you had to wait in line to get your name tag... or maybe you didn't have a nametag... oh, yes, that was my glich.. sorry. Next year it will be much smoother, especially since we already have a volunteer to do it.
Thanks again to everyone for their help.
What a team!!!
Pat
I absol
I absoutely love the Flower Show!!
Did you know the driving force behind it's existence is the Coronado Floral Association? Without that Assn. and the dedicated people who make the wheels turn there wouldn't be a flower show. Did you know it only takes $25 to be a member of the Assn.? You then could have the pleasure of being a part of that driving force and the continuing bloom of the Flower Show.
It takes thousand of dollars to bring in the tents, judges, etc. and in this economy it needs everyone's support. Between the City of Coronado's financial support and their employees who pitch in valuable man power, the Floral Assn.'s fund raising and 200 volunteers - it all comes together.
The Floral Assn. will gladly welcome you to take part by becoming a volunteer - it is so much fun and very rewarding. Then, with you on the membership list - it's perfect.
Here's where to go to join today: http://www.coronadofloralassoc.org/membership.htm
