Tacky.  Perfect for LA though.

eCoronado.com has learned that a lot of feedback was given to Walgreens from the DRC regarding the design. There will be a "continuance" until the next meeting in order for Walgreens to make design changes.  Please note that the meetings are open to the public and that everything discussed is public record.  The next meeting is 9/28/11.  More details can be found on the City of Coronado Design Review Com....

They should take a page out of what AT&T did with their switch building.  That building is beautiful.  Arguably the most beautiful telecommunications switch building in the country. :)  AT&T building

I have a swell idea:  Why don't all of you objecting to the use and design pool your money, lease/buy the building and put in what YOU think should be there.

Dan, I was thinking the same thing.  I get that people want to keep the quaint village feel, but if Trader Joe's or some mom-and-pop entrepreneur or anyone else wanted to use this space, they've had plenty of time to speak up.  I still think Walgreens is better than the vacant building we've had for the last couple of years.

Replace an old ugly building with a new ugly building. Brilliant!

Really?

While we would all enjoy having a Trader Joe's in town, it is a Walgreen's we are getting.

Hopefully, they will stock some items which are not currently available in Coronado.  The local residents

will really miss that parking lot, which has been well used for the past 2 years!

I thought Coronado was trying to stay away from "big box" stores - this could be the poster child for them... Can't you just see it at night all lit up - NO! Please!!!  Coronado is a unique city; we deserve a store front that is the same.  Look around Walgreens - take note of Leroys, Emerald City Surf, even Nicky Rottens - It's time to think outside the box (pun intended) - if you want to be here and earn our acceptance (and business) then give us something WE can be proud of.
