Photos: 2 or 3 Suspects at Large After Vons Shoplifting Incident Monday Night

There has not been an official Press Release sent out yet, but here is the information Lea Corbin from the Coronado Police Department provided:

CPD received a call around 6:50 p.m. Monday night of two males shoplifting cases of beer from Vons.

Store employees were able to get a license plate and direction of travel. An officer located the vehicle near 7th and D and followed the vehicle until it was safe to make a traffic stop on 9th near A.

Upon stopping the vehicle four individuals exited the suspect vehicle and took off running. Officers were able to detain 2 suspects and unable to locate 2 others.

One of the officers collided with a suspect while running. They were both transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The officer was released shortly thereafter and the suspect was transported to Juvenile Hall.

The other suspect was booked into Central Jail. There are conflicting statements as to whether there were 2 or 3 additional suspects. We have no reason to believe the outstanding suspects are still in Coronado.

Awesome job, Coronado PD!  I have to say one doesn't always get this sort of lighting response in many other cities in the region.  We're lucky to have such dedicated and skilled cops watching out for us here in Coronado.  I'm sure comforted to know that they've got my back when the manure's hitting the ventilator!  ;-)

The Coronado officer making the stop did a fabulous job.  Congratulations and many thanks to ALL public safety personnel who participated!
