This is a nice reminder of the vision that Babcock and Story had for what they wanted Coronado to become.

Yeah, and I bet they never imagined us all dying of old age waiting for a light to change at 10th & Orange, either. LOL!

They were probably saying that the ferry takes forever to load at the pier before leaving for the San Diego side of the Bay :-)

I doubt that Babcock and Story envisioned the traffic and overbuilding :-(

By the time Babcock arrived, Indianapolis (a short distance from his native Evansville), looked very much like this original plan of Coronado - the rigid gridiron pattern with alleyways, the diagonal streets converging at a focal point.  Coincidence?  Check it out http://images.indianahistory.org/cdm4/item_viewer.php?CISOROOT=/dc0...
