2nd Book Into Film Discussion & Viewing At The Coronado Library

The Coronado Library is continuing the series Book into Film, sponsored by the California Center for the Book, with the book and movie The Namesake. The discussion and viewing will take place in the Winn Room, Sunday August 5, at 1 pm. The book and discussion questions are available at the Reference Desk for the first 12 people who want to participate in this reading and discussion of the adaptation of The Namesake by Jhumpa Lahiri, into the film directed by Mira Nair. Others may participate if they have their own copy of the book and pick up the discussion questions at the Reference Desk. A copy of The Namesake DVD is available at the Reference Desk for participants to check out for two nights.

The Namesake follows two generations of a Bengali family who live in the United States and are caught between their two conflicting cultures of India and America. The setting moves between Calcutta, Boston, and New York City.
