NATIONAL CITY — A 57-year-old Coronado man died Saturday afternoon when he fell overboard while sailing his boat on San Diego Bay, authorities said.
Ronald Frank Wood, who lived aboard his 36-foot sailboat, fell from the boat about 4:17 p.m. while sailing with two friends on the La Paloma near the San Diego Naval Base at 32nd Street, authorities said.
Wood’s friends alerted the U.S. Coast Guard via radio, saying “man overboard,” and a 911 call was made, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office.
