The bridge was still closed around 930 when I drove passed and according to twitter is STILL closed at 10pm.... This is the third jumper in two days. One attempt from 4am-7am Tuesday morning, a woman who jumped Tuesday evening, and now this one.

I believe the bridge was opened at 11:30pm after the man was taken into custody. I'm glad he is okay and getting the help he needs, hopefully no one on this side needed emergency care at various hospitals in San Diego as the traffic was horrendous and the bridge is a direct link to San Diego.

Although we may not be able to stop potential jumpers, we need to stop closing the bridge.  Nor everyone is just crossing the bridge for a casual evening out or to catch a movie - there are poeple heading to the airport for international flights, others are going to a hospital for surgery, or picking up their children from daycare.  Closing the bridge puts strain and hardship on thousands of commuters.

I agree with Mary...the bridge should not be closed every time there is a jumper.

I wholeheartedly agreew ith Mary and Holly! While I have much compassion for someone who feels so desperate that they decide to take their life, it is not right to close the bridge. I have been stuck on the bridge, unable to go around, with a baby in my car. Children need to eat and use the restroom. I also wonder about the "attention-seekers" who would keep the police engaged for 5 plus hours.
