It’s not even finished, but San Diego County’s 24-mile Bayshore Bikeway has already been listed among Sunset Magazine’s “Top 20 best bike paths in the West.”
“Views of the beautiful bay and San Diego skyline makes this palm tree-lined path one of the most memorable in the county,” the June 2012 article states.
The vision for a designated bicycle path that would hug the coast as it wound through the five cities on San Diego Bay was born in 1976 when National City received $50,000 from SANDAG to widen Chollas Creek Bridge on Harbor Drive.

I've ridden the bike path from the Ferry Landing into Imperial Beach and I have to agree with Sunset Magazine, it is beautiful!
Comment by chuck perkins on September 21, 2012 at 6:56am It truly is a gem EXCEPT for the Harbor Drive segment that is usually a "flat maker". When that section is completed as a path, it will be amazing!
FYI: It also connects to the hwy 54 path In Nat'l. City that will take you to Plaza Burrito & the Bonita area.
Comment by Larry Hofstetter on September 23, 2012 at 9:24pm The City of Coronado needs to do its part to complete the Bayshore Bikeway and stripe bicycle lanes on Glorietta Boulevard. Bicyclists often ride the wrong way on Glorietta. This is unsafe and dangerous.
