 — Beaches on both sides of the border remained closed Wednesday following a sewage spill in Playas de Tijuana that resulted from a damaged underground pipe.

In their latest update to the International Boundary and Water Commission, Baja California authorities said that that they expect to have the leak contained by Thursday morning.

The spill was first detected Monday afternoon and has been flowing at the rate of about 1.6 million gallons a day, according to the commission.

Go north for the swell if you want to surf, otherwise I personally would stay out of the water between Seacoast Drive in IB and Dog Beach!

How long will this affect the waters in a negative manner?

ie: the quality of the water vs "normal" and since that area is so close, how is the quality of the water when it is "normal" vs places that are not so close to this area?
