Bomb Squad Called in for Bag Left on Senior Center Sign

The bomb squad was called in due to a bag left on top of the Coronado Senior Center sign located at the 7th and Orange. The senior center is located at 1019 7th Street.

It was determined that the bag was an empty garment bag and removed. Traffic is now flowing without any closures.

Like it or not, we are still at war. There are some crazy people out there, and I can understand the need for caution. I found a bag on the curb in front of my house recently. My first reaction was that someone loaded their car and drove off forgetting it, but I would be lying if I said that I wasn't just a little nervous at the idea of touching it. As it was open and I could see inside of it, I relaxed. It was indeed someone's beach bag. I turned it over to the police and I learned that the relieved owner claimed it later that day. I'm glad it worked out okay, and I'm sad that we have to worry about this stuff.
