Coronado Bridge Safety- Unsafe Lane Markings

I am very concerned about the lack of highway dividing lines(on the ground) on the bridge.  This occurs in both directions going on and off the bridge.  It is very, very unsafe when the lanes change from three to two lanes.  It is especially dangerous for our many visitors who are not familiar with the lane changing system.  Any idea when, or if, the lines will be  re-painted?

Janice, thanks for posting this and giving it more attention.  We will be sure to feature this in the newsletter on Monday.

I have also noticed that when traveling west the "merge left" sign is no longer being turned off even when there are three lanes and there is no need to merge left.

The lanes need to be more clearly marked.  Especially when coming from SD to Coronado - very hard to find a lane sometimes.

This is the response received today from Caltrans about the striping of lanes on the bridge:

Contingent on weather, we plan on restriping the week after Memorial Day.  Planned start date is 6/3/12, and the striping will be done at night as well.

Well, I have been waiting.  It is now over a week past the due date and there is still no re-striping lines on the bridge.  There has been no inclement weather to warrant any delay on this project....so what is the problem?  Please, Mayor Tankaka look into this matter once again and let me know.  This is such a dangerous situation and we have been without these lines for several months.  Thank you

Caltrans will be repainting the lanes this Saturday:  http://www.ecoronado.com/profiles/blogs/caltrans-to-paint-permanent...
