Caltrans Work on San Diego-Coronado Bridge To Begin

The City of Coronado has been notified that the California Department of Transportation is set to begin work on a project to clean and treat the deck of the San Diego-Coronado Bridge. The work will be done overnight, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., starting Monday, November 28.

The contractor, Truesdell Corporation of CA, must complete the project by February 29, 2012. However, Truesdell officials said the work may be completed in less than two weeks if the weather cooperates.

Lane closures on both sides of the bridge are expected while work is underway although Truesdell officials said “all emergency vehicles will have access to pass through the work site.” They advise against driving in closed lanes due to the cure time required for the work. The City has asked both Caltrans and Truesdell to help get the word out in advance of November 28 about the work, and of any unplanned activity that will further impact traffic. The City also will be notified when the work is about to be completed.
