CHRIST CHURCH THRIFT SHOP HOLDS 16TH ANNUAL CHRISTMAS BOUTIQUE
CORONADO, CA The elves have been decorating the Thrift Shop at Christ Episcopal Church in preparation for its 16th Annual Christmas Boutique, Monday, November 25, from 5-7 p.m.
“Word has spread that we have some of the best, most reasonably priced Christmas decorations in the area. We have people lined up outside the shop in anticipation of our doors opening at 5 p.m., and within 2 hours, we have sold nearly everything in the shop,” said Cyndi McCleary, one of 15 volunteer managers, and 50 more volunteer workers who staff the shop five days a week.
The shop generates close to $100,000 a year from the sale of gently used clothing, jewelry, and household items. Inventory for the Christmas sale come from donations throughout the year that are stored for the special event.
Proceeds from the Thrift Shop go to fight hunger, poverty, and homelessness in San Diego. In addition, the shop also contributes to national and international disaster relief efforts. Local non-profits that serve veterans, early childhood education, and senior citizens also benefit from the Thrift Shop largesse.
“We couldn’t be successful without the support of the local community . . . both those who contribute items and those who shop with us,” McCleary said.
To get the best selection of items from the Christmas Boutique, the shop recommends arriving early in the evening. This year, the shop will be accepting credit card payments and debit cards as well as good, old-fashioned cash. The shop does not accept checks.
Christ Church Thrift Shop, 1210 9th Street, Coronado, CA, is regularly 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The Christmas Boutique is 5-7 p.m., Nov. 25.
