Coronado High School Graduate making a difference in more ways than one!

Lori Volkman graduated from Coronado High School in 1989. She splits her time between many endeavors; deputy prosecuting attorney for Washington State, blogger at www.wittylittlesecret.com, mom to two children and wife of a Naval officer, to name a few.

Her blog started as an online diary in September 2010 when her husband, whom she met in Coronado when he was in flight school and she was a student at UCSD, was deployed to the Middle East. She received national attention this past March when she posted an open letter to Kari Bales, the wife of SSgt. Robert Bales, accused of sixteen civilian deaths in Afghanistan. Lori was interviewed by CNN and received a huge response, mostly positive, for her outreach to Kari Bales.

Now Lori is being honored by BlogHer, a blogging site that reaches some 40 million women each month. The website describes itself as “the leading cross-platform media network created by, for and with women social media leaders.” BlogHer was founded in February 2005 and this year will be holding its 8th Annual Conference. The BlogHer ’12 conference will take place August 2-5 in New York City and Lori will be reading to the estimated 4,000 attendees as part of receiving the “Voice of the Year” honor.
