UPDATE: CHS Boys Varsity Soccer Wins Third Straight CIF Championship!

Four  minutes into the game, Mater Dei scored, but that didn't stop the Islanders.  With  two goals from senior Drew Maracle and a goal each from seniors Andrew Orozco and Kyle Koshland, the Islanders eventually prevailed for their third straight Division IV CIF Championship!  Congratulations CHS Boys' Varsity Soccer on another fantastic season!

Remember to wear your Islander Green and White when you come support the soccer team tomorrow night at Del Norte High School as they compete for their third straight CIF Championship!

Come support our Islander Soccer program as they take on Mater Dei in the CIF Championship game Saturday, March 2, 4:00 PM at Del Norte High School. The price of admission, adults $10 and students $6 will be well worth the quality soccer you should see! Let’s fill the stands with Islander green and white!

Champions of the Islander Invitational Tournament, Varsity Boys’ Soccer went undefeated in City League with an overall record 21-2-2. With a dozen seniors on the team, these boys have been playing together for a while. According to Head Coach Brian Hiatt-Aleu, “we are a very well balanced team and experienced where on any given day any player can win a game for us.” Coach Hiatt-Aleu stressed that the team will “rely on our systems of play to create offensive opportunities” and added that this year the boys have been “defensively strong.”

The Islander soccer program is solid. This is the team’s fifth final in the last seven years. They have come away as champs four out of the last six finals and have won the last two CIF Championships. Tomorrow night our Islander Boys’ Soccer team goes for the 3-peat!

Their Mater Dei opponent beat a higher seed in the semi-finals and is ending the season very strong. Our Islanders will work to “minimize our mistakes and create opportunities on their mistakes.”

Coach Hiatt-Aleu added, “The sacrifice and commitment the boys make all season is for the opportunity to play in the Championship game.”

Good Luck Islander Boys’ Varsity Soccer!
