City weighs law to limit used-car sales

The move to keep city streets from becoming used-car lots is moving to Coronado.

DETAILS

What: Public hearing to discuss a ban on street sales of vehicles

When: 3 p.m. Tuesday

Where: Coronado City Hall, 1825 Strand Way

Coronado Police Chief Lou Scanlon said residents are complaining that people are using heavily traveled streets to sell their vehicles, causing congestion and disrupting the peace in their neighborhoods.

That is prompting the City Council to consider an ordinance Tuesday that would prohibit people from using certain roads to sell their cars.

If the ordinance is approved, such vehicles could be towed.

The city's municipal code must be amended to give the city the authority to cite and tow cars. To be towed, a vehicle must have been cited in the previous 30 days on a street where sales are prohibited.

I suggest it be ANY street in Coronado. There are other ways to sell cars not using our streets as a used care lotl
