Coronado Bicycle Rodeo & Safe Cycling Festival on June 1st

The Coronado Bicycle Rodeo & Safe Cycling Festival is coming to Glorietta Bay Promenade along the Strand Way Bike Trail on Sunday, June 1st from 2-4pm. The festival will especially promote bicycle safety, with the presence of the Coronado police force registering bikes and sharing safety tips. Miss Teen Coronado, Katie Hearther, and Miss Coronado, Susanna Wiggins, will attend the festival, modeling excellent bicycle safety as well. This festival is the perfect opportunity for Coronado parents of young children to teach their kids safety tips, making sure they learn to wear their helmet, look both ways, and know how to protect themselves and their bicycles.

Might be good for some adults and tourists to attend also.  We have a very bike friendly town but there sure seem like a lot of folks running stop signs at a pretty good speed causing near accidents.  Too often, there are adults in the group with small children following this unlawful example.

Visit the Coronado Police Department tables and we will  register your bikes for free with the National Bike registry.  You can also enter to win a FREE U-Lock bike lock to keep your bike safer.  The Coronado Police Department and Hollands will be giving away 10 free U-Locks to winners of a raffle.  Officers will be demonstrating just how easy it is for thieves to cut cable locks and talk with you about bike safety.  Bring the family and bring your bikes.  We will see you there!
